The area near Palm Park and the Palm School harkens back
to Austin's original city plan. The neighborhood near the
corner of Sabine and 5th Street was home to Austin legend
O.Henry. Waller Creek flowed by on its way to the Colorado
River, with minnows and turtles abundant under towering oak
trees.
In 1936 a cabinet makers shop was built overlooking the
creek. Now the home of the Palm Door, over the past 70 years
it has housed businesses such as the Austin Theatrical Supply
Company and the City Grill Restaurant. Restored in 2008,
it maintains the feel of Austin's history and culture with
comfort and simple elegance.
Available for the significant events of your lifetime, Palm
Door is the perfect location for weddings, family reunions,
parties, business socializing and more. |
